How to Remove a Lid Lock from a Washing Machine Turn off the washer and disconnect the appliance. Locate the top horizontal panel’s retaining tabs and/or screws. Look for the lid lock switch and where it fits into the appliance on the underside of the top panel. Place the lid back down and reconnect the washing machine to the outlet.
